Australia is more divided than it needs to be — and a lot of that division is manufactured.
Turn on the television, scroll through social media, or listen to talk radio, and you’d be forgiven for thinking Australia is locked in a permanent culture war — left versus right, progressive versus conservative, us versus them. But step outside that media bubble and talk to your neighbours, colleagues, or family, and you’ll find something very different: most Australians are reasonable, pragmatic people who don’t live at the extremes.
Restore Australia exists to cut through the noise. We’re not here to champion a political party, a movement, or an ideology. We’re here to ask hard questions, examine evidence, and call out the forces — on all sides — that profit from keeping us angry and divided.
What We Believe
The political spectrum is real — people hold genuinely different values and priorities. But the extreme poles — the far left and the far right — represent small minorities of the Australian population. What media companies have discovered, unfortunately, is that outrage and conflict drive clicks and eyeballs. By amplifying the most extreme voices and framing every issue as a battle between two irreconcilable camps, they generate engagement and advertising revenue — at the cost of our national conversation.
We believe most Australians want practical solutions, not culture war theatre. We believe good ideas can come from the left and from the right. We believe the media landscape in Australia — dominated by a handful of powerful commercial and publicly funded organisations — has a lot to answer for when it comes to the state of our public discourse.
What We’re Not
We’re not a political party. We’re not a lobby group. We’re not funded by vested interests (and we’ll always be transparent about our funding). We’re not here to tell you what to think — we’re here to give you more to think with. Centrist does not mean wishy-washy, and it doesn’t mean “splitting the difference” on every issue. Sometimes the evidence clearly points in one direction. When it does, we’ll say so.
If you’re tired of being told to pick a side, you’ve found your home. Welcome to Restore Australia.
